Hi.
My name is Matthias and I’m from the Upper Palatinate region.
My girlfriend and I want to build a new house. We already own the plot of land, but there is still an old house on it.
Now to my question.
Am I allowed to dig up the telephone line myself and move it aside, or should I have the telecom company do it?
According to the telecom company, they have to do it because the main distribution frame (MDF) will be removed and a new one installed in the new building. They are asking me for 800€.
I’m still a bit new to this field.
I hope you can help me with this.
Thanks
Best regards, Matthias

I also had a case where the cable inside our house was still connected, but it was supposed to be disconnected.
So I called the telecom company, and they said the connection was dead. That was almost expected since the house had been empty for about 15 years. The representative just told me to cut the cable and try to tie it up somewhere so they can reconnect to the cable later if a new connection is needed.
The mentioned fee of 800€ is something I have to pay as well; it’s a standard charge for the connection.
You can also have your connection box installed outside the house, basically surface-mounted. In that case, there is no charge at all.
