ᐅ Recommendation for Lime Plaster and Lime Paint

Hello everyone,

We have mold problems in the corners of our bedroom during winter. The base is gypsum plaster with non-woven wallpaper.

Now I plan to renovate the room a bit and want to remove the plaster from the exterior walls and then plaster them with lime plaster. After that, a complete lime finishing coat is to be applied. Finally, the walls should be painted with a lime-based paint.

I hope that the lime plaster will help regulate the humidity to some extent and prevent further mold growth.

I was recommended the following plasters:

Otterbein Clacea Base Plaster
Otterbein Clacea Fine Plaster

Does anyone have experience with these products, and do I need any primer between the plaster layers or between the finishing coat and lime paint?
Or can anyone recommend another plaster or paint?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Best regards,

If I have understood everything correctly, I will have to remove the gypsum plaster anyway. I then need to level the unevenness underneath with plaster since the boards are supposed to be fully adhered. So the plaster needs to dry there as well.
We have already prepared ourselves for not sleeping there for several weeks. So being out of use is not such a big deal.
In the bedroom, there is only a bed (at least 10cm (4 inches) away from the wall) and a chest of drawers, as we have a walk-in closet directly next to it.

The mold infestation has always been minimal because I have acted early and treated it with mold remover.

AGO mold remover set, 4 pieces --> by the way, it’s really good. I wouldn’t have thought so myself, as I had tried others before, but none were nearly as effective as this set.

I will try the lime plaster, and if it doesn’t provide the necessary stability, I’ll have to bite the bullet and reconsider the boards. At the same time, I also want to close the radiator niche and replace the old cast-iron radiator with a new heating unit. The basement ceiling below will also be insulated, but I can only do that once the new heating pipes are installed. I think and hope that all these measures will solve the problem.

It would be great if you could tell me your opinion. Is it possible to set it to specific times? Then you could turn it off during the falling asleep phase.

Hey Olli,

here is a picture showing how a single-room ventilation system looks. It has 3 speed settings. Sometimes you have to listen carefully to hear it. There is also a night mode.

It seems that I am not yet able to start a private conversation, as I have not posted enough comments.
