There are many methods to process and preserve garden products. It is important to use only flawless vegetables or fruits. You can make so many things from them: jams, fruit juices, or sauces.
For example, when making jam, it is very important that the jar is thoroughly clean. You should clean it with high-proof alcohol and/or boil it. There must be no microorganisms in the jar before filling it with jam and sealing it airtight. Otherwise, mold will develop, and the product will spoil quickly.

The glass lid seals onto the jar with the help of a rubber gasket. If something goes bad, the lid will come loose. If this happens, you know that the contents should not be consumed.

I have personally made and canned jams and similar products many times. You just need to make sure to use fruits and vegetables that are not already moldy. Additionally, I always sterilized the jars first with boiling water, and then with high-proof alcohol to be on the safe side. My tip is to avoid buying cheap canning jars from the supermarket. Screw-top lids are not as reliable because you cannot easily tell if something is going on inside the jar.
