Today I boxed in the ceiling area above the kitchen up to the ceiling. This boxed-in space turns out to be a great resonance chamber for the supply air ventilation. The ventilation grille is located close to the kitchen, and the ducts run flush in the wall straight through the boxed-in area into the technical room behind the kitchen.
Attached is a photo of the boxing and the ventilation grille.
The boxing is made from MDF panels attached to wooden blocks, which in turn are fixed to the ceiling and the top of the cabinets. I would say this is pretty standard.
What can I do to reduce the increased noise from the ventilation? Should I fill or line the boxed-in area? (Sorry for the poor lighting. I’m just focusing on the location of the ventilation).

Place thin rubber pads under all attachment points of the housing on the substructure as well as at the fastening points of the exhaust. If this is not sufficient: line the inside of the housing with bitumen sheets used in the automotive sector.
