Hello everyone,

do you have any suggestions for improving the attached floor plan draft?
I’m not very experienced with this topic and would really appreciate your feedback 🙂

Thank you in advance!

Which plan is actually finalized?

Both are quite standard, without considering “short distances” or other thoughtful design aspects.

Personally, I don’t like these slanted walls at all. I’m not a fan of a living area combined with the kitchen and dining space. It feels too chaotic and unstructured to me, and there isn’t enough floor space for the dining area and possibly the living room. It lacks coziness. I don’t think the bungalow is big enough to do without the long corridor.

I really like the utility room with its L-shape. It can be put to good use.

@ypg .. the plan with the open kitchen seems to be current. I asked about that as well 😉.

I wonder if a corner bungalow is really necessary here. Maybe a longer rectangular layout could allow for more southern exposure, and by cleverly positioning the garage, you could still create a kind of corner effect. Perhaps at the expense of direct access from the garage to the house. But it might also be an advantage, so you don’t always have to walk around the entire house to reach the storage area in the garage.

Another question is ... really 2 cars? What about bicycles? And still the question ... permanently 2 people? Bedrooms used as offices, although the checklist doesn’t indicate any office use... and so on. But for that, @Elrymir would have to take another look 😉.

One could consider placing the garage in the southwest corner, and orienting the bungalow to the southwest as well, creating a sort of courtyard here while simultaneously opening the house to the west. The entrance would then be on the north side, resulting in a short hallway.

This is just an initial idea, which I would personally sketch out first.

If the number of children is uncertain, I find having two children’s bedrooms questionable. I expect the builder to respond to me personally. For me, that means some level of individuality and attention to my specific needs.

I agree with Yvonne: having the entrance on the north side would also be my first choice.

Exactly the thoughts Yvonne expressed crossed my mind when I asked @Elrymir about the reasoning behind the angled bungalow and so on. I might even lean towards an entrance on the west side ... but, one would have to get some answers first 😉.
