ᐅ Is it advisable to securely screw the KALLAX back panel in place?

Hello everyone, I am currently considering adding a fixed back panel to my IKEA KALLAX shelves and wondering if it really makes sense. My idea is to increase the stability of the shelf and prevent bending or warping, especially when it is loaded with heavier items. On the other hand, I am concerned that this might make assembly or future adjustments more difficult, and whether it could potentially damage the shelf or cause other disadvantages. Does anyone have experience with this or can offer advice on whether it is generally beneficial to use a fixed back panel for KALLAX shelves, or if it is better to stick with the original, simply slotted-in back panels? Thanks in advance!
If you are really looking for a middle ground, you might consider detachable solutions using brackets and screws, where the back panel is screwed in but can be removed in a modular way.
For example, small brackets mounted on the inside allow you to simply unscrew the back panel when needed, without completely damaging it. Important: pre-drill and insert screws carefully to avoid material breakage.
This method is a bit more complex but avoids problems with permanent drill holes or splinters while still providing the desired stability.

Here is a summary:
- Solidly screwed back panels significantly increase stability.
- Not recommended for frequent use or moves due to disassembly difficulties.
- Removable screws with brackets or similar fixtures are a good compromise.
- Original back panels only provide limited stability.
