I want to install a pendant light in the stairwell that extends from the top floor down to the basement. The problem is that the space above the stairs is limited by the sloping roof. Does anyone have suggestions on where to find a suitable lamp for this?

Basically, you can use any pendant light that isn’t hanging directly from the cable, as otherwise the cable would get kinked.

They either have a wire supporting the “lampshade” or (the more traditional models) a chain.
The person at the lighting store said that as long as there’s no tension on the cable, you can choose freely.
However, it shouldn’t be a rigid rod, since that wouldn’t hang vertically and would probably look a bit odd... :-)

We have both a modern chandelier with a chain and a lamp with a hanging wire, and I even have an extremely lightweight fixture hanging directly on the cable. It wasn’t expensive, so let’s see how long it lasts... ;-)
