Hello,
In one bedroom, we will be applying glass fleece to the wall. Before that, it will be skim-coated with Knauf surface filler. Is it possible to paint this glass fleece with dispersion silicate paint (in our case Caparol Sylitol Interior Silicate), or will it not adhere properly?
Alternatively, we would only skim-coat the room (Knauf surface filler). Is this a suitable base?
Thank you very much

Of course, it’s durable. But you don’t need to use a bazooka to hunt ducks.
Fiberglass fleece is used in high-traffic areas where you expect frequent contact with the wall, such as school corridors.
So, I would only consider applying it in private settings like stairwells or hallways, for example. A single coat of paint can also be sufficient with regular fleece; it mainly depends on the paint and the quality you want.

Hello,
thank you for the responses.
This is how I would proceed now. I will fill the uneven areas and holes in the room with Knauf ready-mixed joint compound (gypsum-based). This will be a maximum of 20% of the wall surface. Then I would apply a painting fleece or smooth fleece (e.g., Erfurt VarioVlies) and paint it with a dispersion silicate paint.
Thank you very much

Attention: Links are not allowed here. Glass fleece and/or glass fiber fleece are exactly that. Glass fiber fleece is usually not vapor permeable.
However, you were looking in the wrong category in the shop. It was already labeled as reinforcement mesh.
Try searching for renovation fleece. You’ll find some at the big river. Or yes, just go with the Erfurt stuff. Allegedly, it can also be obtained cheaply in large quantities.
