Hello,

we have a double garage attached to the house, including an area for a workbench, etc., with a total size of 7 x 9 meters (23 x 30 feet).

The screed is scheduled to be installed on Thursday. I need to inform them about the height—whether I should leave an additional 1.5 to 2 centimeters (0.6 to 0.8 inches) for tiles or not.

I have heard differing opinions within my family regarding tiles versus a two-component coating.

What is your opinion (preferably based on experience)?

Are there tiled garages? I've never seen one before... Are they able to support the weight of a car?

Well, car dealerships often have floors like that. I think it's nonsense. Two coats of paint are enough.

Yes, there are vibration plates, like the ones you might know from supermarkets or car showrooms. These are embedded directly when pouring the screed. That’s not what I’m referring to.
I meant regular tiles with the appropriate wear resistance class, so they should definitely be durable.

Now, someone mentioned that the two-component coating needs to be renewed every 5-10 years.
With tiles, on the other hand, you would have peace of mind indefinitely.

Regarding cleaning, there are conflicting statements. Some say cleaning is easier with tiles, others say with the coating.

Who is suggesting to renew this? A professional or someone who just heard about it...? In my opinion, EP coatings are extremely durable for interior use.
