Hello everyone,

My husband plans to paint our house himself in the spring. He has done this many times before and feels confident doing it without help. The scaffold and materials will be provided by the plasterers. The area to be painted is about 280 sqm (around 3,000 sq ft). Do you have an idea of the savings you made when you did it yourself, or what the cost was if you had it done by professionals?

Many thanks!

Yes, that matches well with my figures. But don’t forget brushes, masking tape, and so on.

Exactly. The area will already be masked off since plastering is done beforehand, but we still need brushes and such.

Is it possible to mix color into the top coat so that you don’t have to paint it separately afterward?

It is possible. However, a coat of silicone resin paint is much more water-repellent and resistant to algae. K.

We were told that when mixing color into the plaster, you can notice color variations depending on how dark the color is intended to be. It is always recommended to tint the plaster slightly and then apply a quality paint in the desired shade over it.

I can only report this much. Prefabricated garage with Rekerskin colored render, half a year old, looks dirty. Painted with Sto facade paint, exposed to weather for one year, clean.
