Hello everyone,

My husband plans to paint our house himself in the spring. He has done this many times before and feels confident doing it without help. The scaffold and materials will be provided by the plasterers. The area to be painted is about 280 sqm (around 3,000 sq ft). Do you have an idea of the savings you made when you did it yourself, or what the cost was if you had it done by professionals?

Many thanks!

Quick question: inside or outside (are you referring to scaffolding)? On the outside, no painting was done for us because the plaster simply has the pigments mixed in.

Thank you @HAL06120 I am referring to the exterior. Our plaster will not be tinted because the company prefers not to do that (due to color variations). Therefore, it still needs to be primed and painted with the color we choose.

5.00 per square meter net. If you can get that nowadays, consider yourself lucky.

@Nordlys do you think it is that affordable? I have read something about 20 € per sqm (square meter).

For 280 sqm (3,013 sq ft), that amounts to 1,400 in labor costs. On top of that, there is the paint, which could add another 300–400. At a labor rate of 50 euros per hour, that’s quite a high price, almost 30 hours of labor. That should be enough for a house like this.
