Hello,

we are planning to get 6 outdoor security cameras. They should be connected to a hard drive for recording when motion is detected. They also need to perform well in low light and have a viewing range of 20 m (65 feet). We want to connect them directly by cable, not use Wi-Fi.

Which outdoor cameras would you recommend?

Best regards

I’m torn on this. So, I’m only preparing for Ethernet but not taking any concrete measures yet.
A good home insurance costs 10-20€ more per year than a basic one. That also takes care of attempted break-ins. It’s better than spending several hundred on cameras.

Laying cables costs very little and is definitely something I would prepare for. At least if you are already considering it.

The annoying thing about cables is that they end up hanging around and dangling somewhere when not in use. It probably doesn’t look great on the house wall when you have 3 LAN cables plus 3 power cables hanging out side by side at various points on the house and nothing is done about it.

You could install canopies on it until you start using the cables.

Of course, you don’t let it hang out from the facade.
