Good morning, dear building experts,

Last week, I purchased an existing house. Unfortunately, the current layout does not completely meet my expectations. I would like to have an open kitchen combined with a dining area. To achieve this, I would need to remove a wall.

My question is whether you think this is feasible by installing a steel beam (TT beam) as a support. I am providing a drawing so you can see the current layout.

The walls or wall sections marked in blue are the ones I would like to remove, of course considering whether this is possible. The goal is to create a continuous space in the green-shaded area to use as kitchen and dining room.

The house dates back to the early 1970s.

No one in this forum can answer your question with certainty. Instead, you should consult a structural engineer.

Hello,

I also strongly recommend consulting a structural engineer.

One more question: The middle "wall" somehow looks like a three-flue chimney, doesn’t it?

Best regards,

Dirk

The wall is positioned right next to the chimney.

And this chimney flue is supposed to go as well?
