Hello everyone, has anyone already installed a photovoltaic system with storage? If so: How long have you had it, which brand, and what are your experiences? Is anyone planning (like me) to install such a system soon? Given the continuously decreasing feed-in tariffs, it is definitely worth considering. What key parameters are you using for your calculations? Thanks for specific answers!

Today, it is unfortunately common for everyone to scrutinize every single cent and percentage point when it comes to financing. On one hand, this is understandable since no one wants to waste money, but there are simply some things people do for their personal comfort or a bit of luxury. There are many other areas—such as the favorite subject of Germans, cars—where this whole logic of cost-efficiency is often completely ignored. It’s simply nice when the oven, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer are running and you are using your own electricity.

Many aspects of a house, especially a new build, are more about personal preferences of the homeowners. If construction always focused only on what was strictly necessary and the cheapest option, many construction companies and subcontractors would have already gone out of business.

Regarding the small business regulation, it should also be mentioned that choosing it is not mandatory. This scheme means that the value-added tax (VAT) you pay, for example, cannot be reclaimed. Therefore, it’s important to clearly distinguish between the small business regulation and the regular taxation system, which usually must be maintained for at least five to six years.

Not entirely correct, because the storage is needed to buffer the peaks as well as the fluctuations in supply from the roof.

What about peaks from the washing machine, dishwasher, oven, and dryer?

None of these appliances cause peak loads.

Do you even have a photovoltaic system?

Update Oct. 2017, in case anyone is interested: We are now installing a photovoltaic system with 22 x 295 W panels oriented east/west, combined with an LG ESS (5.9 kWh usable capacity) and an air-to-water heat pump with 6 kW output, including underfloor heating.
And the matching house for it:
