Hello,

a quick question regarding waterproofing in the wet area of the new bathroom:

Isn’t there any waterproofing in the shower area (the floor drain is visible at the top) missing? It looks to me like tiles are installed directly on the stripped wall with a lot of adhesive. The floor tiles seem to be laid directly on top of the old tiles. What do you think?

Hello,

assuming there is no waterproofing under the old tiles, then it is missing. It is also not present at the wall connections.

How old is the house? Most likely, it wasn’t built with waterproofing at that time either.

If I were you, I would first even out the old walls to ensure the waterproofing fits properly. Check the Bostik website; I think you can find examples of how it should look there.

Best regards, Jann

Thanks for the feedback!

That’s what I feared. The contract was to remove the old floor and wall tiles, then waterproof, and finally install new tiles. Unfortunately, I only see the new tiles...
In the photo above, you can already see the new tiles, which apparently were just placed directly onto the stripped wall without any preparation.
