Have you ever experienced this? A long-standing empty lot gets developed, and suddenly the neighbors are upset because the new building blocks their sunlight, obstructs their view, or causes other disturbances. It’s quite common to get used to an empty space over many years. But who has gone through this, and how did you handle it?

Surely, the construction noise will also increase during the critical phase. As I said, I believe the biggest issues are the noise and dust nuisance. And a construction project doesn’t last just a few months, but they simply have to get through it.
Like other users have said, just be patient and stay polite; there’s not much else you can do.
Your neighbors are now also under stress. Construction noise and, on top of that, the unusual height, which they misjudged. I think everyone will react somewhat reserved.
I would invite them to the topping-out ceremony and welcome them warmly; that way, a sense of neighborhood will most likely develop from their side as well. Be patient, it will work out.

You are mistaken; the FEDERAL HIGHWAY is only multi-lane there because of turning lanes, otherwise the traffic is moderate.
The gas station is just a self-service pump that is only used occasionally, and the workshop has been closed for a long time.

We already have the first neighbor who’s getting alarmed, even though there’s not even a house built yet. Given the amount of fill being added, she’s now afraid we’re going to put a castle there and is already being difficult, saying she will closely monitor everything—height, boundaries, and so on. I’m curious to see how she’ll react when we place the 9m (30 ft) long garage right on the boundary line with her garden, especially since she’s had an unobstructed view for the past 40 years.
But I understand her—looking at the site like this, it’s easy to get worried!
