ᐅ My KALLAX unit isn’t sitting flush against the wall – any tips?

Hello everyone,
I have had a KALLAX shelf from IKEA for some time now, which I mounted on my living room wall. Unfortunately, I notice that it doesn’t sit completely flush against the wall – it seems to tilt slightly forward at the bottom, even though I fixed it with anchors and screws. The wall and floor are level, I’m pretty sure of that. I wonder if this is due to the design of the shelf itself or if I made a mistake while attaching or leveling it. Does anyone have tips on how to mount my KALLAX securely and flush against the wall so that it doesn’t wobble or lean? Maybe there are special anchors or mounting aids that IKEA doesn’t include?
I appreciate any help and experiences you can share, as I want to avoid the shelf warping further over time or getting damaged. Thanks in advance!

Hello Konradlu,
I can definitely understand how frustrating a crooked shelf can be. You want everything to look neat and, above all, to be securely fixed. I had a similar situation once, and for me, it was important to stay calm and tackle the problem step by step.
Maybe this will help you too: instead of focusing on just one possible cause, it might be useful to check all the small potential factors. Sometimes it’s a combination of uneven floors, minor installation errors, and material stresses that together cause this issue.
If you like, you can share your assembly steps here again, and we can try to find the adjustment points together. 🙂

- What type of wall you have (concrete, drywall, etc.)
- Which anchors/screws you used
- Whether you used wall brackets or just screws directly
- Whether you followed the IKEA assembly instructions or improvised
- Whether you may have moved the shelf after installation
The more details, the more targeted our help can be! 🙂
