Hello everyone,
for better moisture protection, the waterproof membrane will then be extended up along the exterior walls, similar to a basin.
When I mentioned this to the builder, they responded:
the waterproof membrane will NOT be extended up the exterior wall.

The installation complies with the requirements of the DIN standard.

How necessary is this? Should I insist on having the membrane extended up the wall?

Corner with white tiled walls, dark, dirty floor and moisture at the base.

Corner: white wall meets gray tiles, dark floor; dust, stains and chipping at the base.

Empty room with white wall blocks and dark gray floor.

Do you have a waterproof/structurally sealed basement?

If you mean a watertight basement floor slab and basement walls cast from in-situ concrete on site, sealed outside with a two-layer bituminous waterproofing including membrane, basically a black tank. We did it ourselves.

I read somewhere that double waterproofing like the one you used is not only unnecessary but may actually be disadvantageous. I don’t remember the exact reasons, but Google helps!

Then please explain to me how I’m supposed to embed a mesh with only a single layer...

I think there has been a misunderstanding, or I may have misunderstood you. A properly executed waterproof concrete basement does not need additional waterproofing.

I quote:

Tradespeople often turn a “white tank” into a “black tank” by applying bitumen to the exterior surface of the concrete basement. This method is based on the fairly common assumption that waterproof concrete is impermeable to water, but that small amounts of moisture can still penetrate into the interior through diffusion, pressure differences, or the supposed capillary suction of the material, causing moisture problems (such as mold) inside the basement.
