Hello everyone,
Has anyone here completely landscaped their garden by themselves? If so, did you rent or buy a mini excavator? If you bought one, which model did you choose?

Alternatively: Check out Jansen. Does a front loader mean a tractor? Jansen has excavators for the 3-point hitch for next to nothing. No, a proper wheel loader with a lifting capacity of 1.5 tons.

Mottenhausen9 Sep 2019 11:38If a rental machine breaks down, it’s insured, so you can stay relaxed. Especially when sharing ownership of a jointly purchased machine, trouble is almost guaranteed if an expensive repair is needed. Should everyone pay an equal share even though usage varied, or should only the person whose machine broke cover the cost?
I have also looked at used wheel loaders, but affordable options have worn tires, leaking hydraulic fluid everywhere, and so on. Unfortunately, that’s not worthwhile at all.

A mini excavator would have the advantage that we could also use the front loader to lift it into an empty fish pond for cleaning.
We have now done some calculations to see if it would be worthwhile and for which tasks we would need an excavator, and we have already identified quite a few. Considering a plot size of 4700 m² (50590 sq ft) and fish pond area of 5200 m² (55970 sq ft), this is not surprising.
Now we just need to find the right excavator...

Ours is now placed in the almost finished garden, and I can’t bring myself to part with it.

angoletti127 Mar 2020 08:01It is a 3.5-ton machine from Kubota, which was previously rented out by Boels. However, keep in mind that anything over 2.7 tons (3 tons) can no longer be transported with a car; you will need a truck for that. Due to the crisis, prices might slowly become more attractive. In previous years, prices were driven up particularly in spring by small landscaping contractors.
