Hello everyone,

I have the popular IKEA Malm bed in my bedroom, which I bought and assembled myself about a year ago. For some time now, I’ve noticed that the bed is no longer standing evenly and is slightly tilted on one side. The issue does not seem to be caused by an uneven floor, as I have already checked, and the floor is completely level.

My question is: How can I realign the Malm bed to make it straight and stable again without fully disassembling it? Are there specific adjustable feet that can be added, or perhaps a particular method to adjust the frame?

I would appreciate any detailed tips or experiences that could help with this.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Manali and fellow builders!

It’s funny how a crooked bed can really throw you off balance—not just your sleep! 😉

Honestly, tightening the screws is definitely the first step. But if that’s not enough, I recommend taking the opportunity to give your Malm bed a bit of a refresh: add some adjustable furniture feet underneath, use some sandpaper for any rough spots, and show a little care to the wooden parts.

Oh, and don’t forget: an uneven base can also be caused by the slatted bed frame—if it no longer fits properly, the whole setup can become unstable quickly. So just take out the slatted frame and check it!

And the best part: every small stability improvement is a step toward better sleep—almost like an investment!

Good luck, and let us know how the bed rescue mission goes!
