Hello friends,

In the master bedroom, next to the planned bed position, there are cables coming out of the wall on both the left and right side for reading lamps (without an electrical box, coming directly from the wall). Now, because of a crib, we want to change the whole arrangement and don’t want to install the planned lamps or they don’t fit anymore.

Do you have any idea what kind of cover box I can put over the cables so that a child cannot reach them, and it still looks reasonably neat? Maybe I’m just missing the technical term, but all I keep finding are these gray plastic boxes that at best you can tolerate in a basement. How can I hide the cables safely and neatly?

Thanks a lot,
Tassimat

There are surface-mounted frames from the Gira System 55 range. All compatible Gira components fit perfectly inside.

White flush-mounted box frame with open interior for socket or switch.

It can also be closed with a blank cover plate, or, of course, with a suitable socket outlet featuring child protection.

Thank you. Something a bit more compact would be nice. Is that available?

There are dedicated product lines available at major home improvement stores. They often have a showroom as well. You might want to take a look there. You can find the "big" ones online.

Well, if you want it to be compact, you'll probably have to cut some of the cable since otherwise, it likely won't fit inside the box. Do you want that? You won't be as flexible later on...

Cutting off is fine. There are still about 20 cm (8 inches) left. It can be carried out quite briefly if desired.
