Hello everyone,
I’m currently working on the lighting design and have a problem with the dining table lighting.
The dining table is partly located in an open space. In the open space on the upper floor, I’m planning to hang 2-3 pendant lights/round fixtures. Do you think that is enough lighting for the table?

Additionally, I would like to install an LED strip as task lighting (tunable white) above the kitchen island, and we have spotlights under the tall cabinets at the back of the kitchen.

In the living area, we are planning a ceiling panel with an LED strip around it for indirect ceiling lighting. In the ceiling panel itself, there will be spotlights directly above the sofa (reading light) and possibly a pendant light over the coffee table. In the room, we will also place floor lamps in the corners.

Do you think this will be sufficient, or would you do it differently?

Best regards and thanks,
Hannes

Dining Table: Have a look at „less and more ylux“. You can mount them centrally above the table to the low ceiling and still illuminate the table well without glare. Thanks to the lens technology, the light is very even and can be precisely adjusted for the area.

Kitchen: Use LED strips with narrow spacing and place a diffusing frosted glass in front for uniform lighting. 24V technology works better for long strips (the light does not dim towards the end).

Okay, I will take a look. You mean the light coming from the atrium is not sufficient for the dining table?

Depending on what you have there, a light that not only provides "brightness" but also highlights the area of the table is more comfortable and attractive.
For the open space, we had originally considered the next light sculpture for our home but later dismissed the idea because we really like the open space as it is.

Interior with staircase; several white balloons hanging on wire cables above a patterned wall.

Are you referring to something like this? (I can’t say anything about rotation.)
The brightness would be sufficient, but it would feel uncomfortable and the light wouldn’t be focused enough for a dining table. It would also hang somewhat higher.
We usually don’t have these lights on, but rather the floor lamp hinted at in the picture, since it provides more targeted and directional lighting.

We hardly ever use these lamps, more the floor lamp hinted at in the picture, since it provides more focused and directed light.

Yes, something like that. We probably do need an additional lamp above the table. We’ll have to look around again. It’s not that simple.
