I thought I’d start a thread about all the little kitchen stuff—things like dishes, storage containers, pots, glasses, cooking spoons, whisks, and so on.
At home, I have some great kitchen utensils from IKEA, but also a few real disappointments that just don’t work well. I’ve included the IKEA product names in parentheses when I know them.
The good ones are:
- Garlic press (the round one, not the square)(Koncis)
- The standing dish brush with a suction cup at the bottom (plastic)
- A flat whisk coated with rubber (??)
- The large blue kitchen scissors (??)
- These large glasses that look like latte macchiato glasses or similar to Caipirinha glasses (Pokal) --> nice thick glass and affordable
- Storage container (Distanz) with a red lid, sold in a set of three in various shapes
The bad ones are:
- 3-piece knife set with handles in three different colors --> don’t cut well
- Small knife from the 365 series --> also doesn’t cut very well
- 3-piece wooden cooking spoon set --> unpleasant wood that splinters
- Black porcelain bowl (Syntes) --> the paint chips very quickly, not due to how I handle it; I have other black bowls that don’t chip
So-so:
- 3-pack of scissors with colorful handles --> not bad but not great, decent for the price
- Storage container set with many pieces and light blue/turquoise lids --> okay, nothing has broken after 2 years, but the quality could be better
- Large plastic cutting boards that can be bent --> okay, but nothing outstanding
