Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Kallax shelving unit and ordered matching doors for it. After installation, I noticed that the doors are significantly too short in height – they don’t close flush and leave an unattractive gap of about 2 cm (0.8 inches) at the top. I have already measured everything precisely and compared it with the specified dimensions.
My question to you: Has anyone had a similar experience and successfully filed a complaint with IKEA? How exactly did you proceed, and what helped you get a replacement?
I would appreciate any advice on the best way to handle this, especially since the doors are practically unusable as they are. Thanks in advance!

For clarification: The dimensions of Kallax doors should exactly match the specified dimensions of the shelving unit. A deviation of 2cm (0.8 inches) in height is definitely an error, which could be due to a production defect or incorrect warehouse allocation.
I recommend explicitly referring to the warranty when making a claim, as the price in relation to the quality also requires proper fitting. A structured complaint letter citing applicable DIN standards and furniture guidelines may increase the chances of success.
However, in most cases, a simple claim supported by proof of incorrect dimensions is sufficient, especially when it involves a decorative item whose functionality is affected.

A quick update for everyone:
I called the IKEA store this morning and explained my situation. The staff member asked me to bring the doors and the receipt for the complaint. I will go there tomorrow and then report back on what happens.
Thank you for the advice regarding warranty and standards; it gives me confidence to approach the complaint clearly and objectively.

Hello reokin,
an important tip from me: when you contact customer service on site, be sure to provide detailed information about how the doors do not fit (shape, dimensions, etc.), and if possible, have the exact designation of the affected series ready.
Often there are surplus stocks of incorrect parts, and if the supplier replaces them quickly, you can hopefully receive your new doors within a few days. It also helps to mention that the wrong door is causing usability issues – this usually makes customer service take the case seriously.
I wish you good luck tomorrow!

Brief update:
I visited the IKEA store today. The staff member carefully inspected the door and confirmed my details. Fortunately, they had a replacement in stock and exchanged the incorrect doors right away – without any hassle. They also gave me a small apology gift (voucher).
So the whole process was actually very straightforward and quick. Thanks to everyone who shared advice!
If anyone faces a similar issue in the future, just go to the store, bring the door and receipt, and stay calm. The key is having the receipts and verifiable measurements.

Hello everyone,
well done, reokin! If you ever have issues with Kallax parts again in the future: Sometimes it’s worth using the IKEA website for claims. There you can often report the case in advance, and in some cases, replacement happens even faster.
Doors simply have to fit, that’s logical. Nice to hear everything is going smoothly for you. 🙂
