ᐅ KALLAX doors warped after installation – what could be the cause?

Keoneo2Hello everyone,
I’m currently installing my new KALLAX cabinet doors, but after assembly, the doors are warped and don’t close properly. I followed the instructions carefully and didn’t overtighten the screws. My guess is that the issue might be either with the hinges, which may not be perfectly adjusted, or some warping caused by moisture in the air.
Has anyone experienced something similar or can explain exactly what causes KALLAX doors to be warped after installation? Are there common mistakes that are easy to overlook?
I look forward to your feedback and tips on how to fix this problem.

Hello,
There are some common reasons why KALLAX doors can be warped after installation:
1. Installation precision: The hinges must be mounted exactly at the correct height. Even small deviations can cause a door to hang unevenly.
2. Material warping: The MDF panels used for the doors can warp due to moisture. This is especially likely if they were not acclimatized beforehand, leading to internal stresses.
3. Uneven screw tightening: If some screws are tightened too much while others are loose, the door will become misaligned.
4. Floor leveling: The KALLAX shelving unit itself must be placed on a level surface, as this directly affects the door alignment.
Tip: Remove the doors, check the hinge alignment with a spirit level, and carefully reattach the doors. Then tighten the screws evenly.

Oh yes, I know that feeling! But don’t worry, it’s an easy fix! 🙂 Often, it’s just minor adjustments to the hinges, and suddenly everything fits perfectly again. I also got a bit frustrated at first, but then I properly realigned the door, and that was it! Good luck, you can do it! 🙂
Hello,
I would like to add some points. It is very important to install the doors only after the shelf unit is placed on a completely level floor. Also, the doors should be stored in the room for one to two days before installation to allow the material to adjust to the humidity.
Equally essential is not just lifting the hinges but using the horizontal and vertical adjustment options that are often available.
If the doors appear warped after installation, this usually means that one of the adjustment settings was not used properly. It’s best to study the installation manual carefully, as it describes the adjustment procedures.
By the way, for longer shelves, a slight distortion can also develop due to their own weight, and in this case, an additional stabilization may help.

I also got briefly frustrated, but then I readjusted the door properly and that was it!That sums it up perfectly! 🙂 Adjusting doors is often less of a hassle than it initially seems. Just stay calm, tighten a screw here, turn a bit there—like dancing, but a bit slower.
Sometimes the injuries in the DIY world turn into success stories when, after a few tweaks, the doors suddenly fit perfectly as if by magic. Good luck to everyone working on this right now!
