Hello everyone, I recently got a Kallax shelf from Ikea, which I fitted with doors. However, adjusting the doors has been quite challenging: the doors don’t close flush, some hang slightly crooked, and when I try to adjust the hinges, it feels like the fine-tuning options have very little effect. Is there a detailed guide or proven tips on how to optimally adjust the Kallax doors? I’m especially interested in the fine adjustment, so the doors fit neatly, open easily, and don’t rub against each other or the shelf. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, it’s great that you want to upgrade your Kallax with doors! 🙂 I had the same issue and found it quite fiddly at first. The key is to carefully examine the hinges: they usually offer three adjustment options – up/down, left/right, and in/out. For example, it helps to start with the horizontal alignment (left/right), then adjust the height, and finally set the depth to ensure a clean closing. And very important: make small adjustments each time, otherwise the doors can become crooked. You’ve got this, good luck! 🙂

Hinges usually have three screws. One adjusts the height, one adjusts the left/right position, and one adjusts the distance from the panel. Loosen the screws slightly, turn the screws, then tighten the screws again.

Also check if the doors are hanging straight before starting the fine adjustment. Sometimes the hinge is not properly seated in the hole, which then requires readjusting the installation.

Thanks already for the initial tips! @Christia59, your advice on the order of adjustment is helpful. Could you or others explain exactly how to adjust the individual screws? For example: Which screw adjusts the height, which one the width, and approximately how much should each be turned? I want to avoid the risk of causing damage from over-tightening. Also, are there any special tools or aids that make the adjustment easier?

[quote=saumeo5, post: n5v3b8, member: XXX]Could you describe exactly how the screws can be adjusted?[quote]

The screw at the back of the hinge adjusts the depth (in/out), the front screw controls the horizontal position, and the top screw adjusts the height. Usually, a maximum of a quarter turn is needed per adjustment step.
