Hello everyone,

I would like to know if there is an app that allows virtual planning of Ikea Platsa furniture. Specifically, I want to be able to insert the modular elements of the Platsa series into different room sizes and layouts to get a realistic idea of the final result before purchasing. Ideally, the app should also offer options to try out various colors and fronts as well as configure storage variants. I’ve heard that Ikea offers its own tools, but they are often not very specific or can be cumbersome to use. Does anyone have experience with an app that works well specifically for Platsa? And how accurate and user-friendly are these planning tools? Thanks in advance!

Are there apps that can also accurately represent more complex room layouts, such as awkward corners or sloped ceilings?

Hello Bentu,

the Ikea Home Planner is only somewhat suitable for this, as it is rather limited when it comes to very specific room shapes. If you want to account for sloped ceilings and complex room cutouts, I would recommend the following workflow:

- First, use a simple room planner app that supports freeform walls and slopes (for example, software that can model more than just standard rectangles).
- Then export or transfer the room dimensions to the Ikea Home Planner to place the Platsa modules with precise measurements.

This way, you can ensure that the actual room characteristics are taken into account while working with exact furniture models. For most users with similar needs, this is the most practical approach.

If the room shape is very unusual, you can also try working with several simple rectangular areas and then combine them with a program that supports flexible slopes.
