ᐅ Is nail sealing tape suitable for this application? Are there any alternatives?

Tx-25Hello everyone.
We have an area at the knee wall where the timber of the roof structure is set back further than the wall. The roof slope starts on the timber. Since this area is recessed too far, we plan to nail a "sauerkraut board"/coarse wood mesh onto the timber. This will then be plastered with a thicker layer. The problem is that we have installed the vapor barrier over the timber. The edge was fixed with basecoat tape. To seal the nail holes, I was thinking of using a nail sealing tape. However, I’m not sure how the tape works. The mesh does not provide counter-pressure on the nail hole. Will the tape still work? Are there alternatives?
