DilukenHello everyone, I am currently considering not assembling my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe all at once, but rather building it in several parts – basically modular. My specific question is: based on experience, is it better to assemble the entire BRIMNES wardrobe at once to ensure stability and uniformity, or are there more advantages to first building individual modules and then combining them? I am especially interested in the balance between effort involved, stability, future flexibility, and also the practical aspects of reassembly later on, for example if the wardrobe is moved or expanded afterward. I look forward to your assessments and tips!

Sure, it takes a bit more time and patience, but you stay more flexible and the wardrobe is easier to transport or rearrange. 😊 Also, it doesn’t end up feeling bulky that way. I assembled mine in parts back then and was still able to make small adjustments later. Stability? It’s fine — Ikea has designed it pretty well!
To answer Diluken’s question thoroughly: The Ikea BRIMNES wardrobe is basically designed to be fully assembled as a whole. This ensures optimal stability since all the individual parts are screwed and connected together, which strengthens the overall structure. However, those with little experience in furniture assembly or working in small spaces can also benefit from a modular approach, as it allows more flexibility when handling larger components. It is important, though, to make sure all connections are firmly secured in the end to prevent any wobbling. Additionally, assembling it in sections can make transportation easier, for example, when the wardrobe needs to pass through narrow doors.

On the other hand, I had difficulties dismantling it when I moved. A modular design can save time in the long run if you plan to move the furniture frequently or want to use the parts separately at times. Ultimately, it depends on your priorities: stability and one-time assembly – complete. Mobility and flexibility – modular.
