ᐅ Intermittent signal interference on the TV since the internet became available

Hello everyone, our TV intermittently loses signal. The screen goes black with the message "no signal." This usually happens at the beginning and not every time we use it. When it does occur, it only happens once during use. To fix the problem, I usually need to switch the input once. That input also shows no signal at first, but then the reception "returns."

What’s strange is that we had no problems for 5 months (moved into our new build). The issue started almost exactly on the day we got the internet connection installed in the house.

Could this be related somehow?

We do not use internet TV. All cables (power, TV, internet) run together bundled up in one corner of the utility room to the distribution box.

Maybe during the installation of the internet cable, an F-connector on the satellite cables came loose, which could have compromised the shielding. I would check or have someone check the nearby F-connectors.

That’s a good idea.

Hello everyone. I have checked the following. First, I disconnected the internet connection from the router but left everything else unchanged. The error still occurred. The second time, I left the internet connection connected to the router but unplugged the router from the power. The error still appeared. I noticed that the error usually occurs within the first minute after turning on the TV, and the signal is lost for about 20 to 25 seconds. It really only happens once a day. No additional internet cables have been installed in the house. When the telecom technician was here, he only connected the fiber optic cable to the fiber optic outlet, which then went to the telecom modem, and from the telecom modem a cable runs to the router. The technician never left the utility room and never accessed the TV or anything similar.

Ever considered switching to Magenta TV?
Great picture quality, and fiber optic internet easily supports plenty of HD streaming and recordings at the same time. Ideal conditions to move away from satellite and HD subscription services.

Where is the multiswitch of the satellite system located? I still believe that the shielding or an F connector is causing the problem.

I’m familiar with this “problem” as well. Sometimes when turning on the TV, an error message appears saying there is no or a weak signal. Switching channels briefly usually fixes it. It wasn’t really annoying, so I never considered it a real problem. Maybe the LNB needed a moment to recognize it was being used... or something along those lines.

I only noticed this on the TV in the living room. It never happened in the other rooms, but they aren’t used that often. So far, with the new TV in the living room, it hasn’t happened again.
