Hello everyone,
I am currently redesigning my bedroom. I have a niche that is exactly 2.25m (7 feet 5 inches) wide. So, a wardrobe system with three 0.75m (30 inches) sections would fit perfectly. I would like it to have sliding doors. In theory, this could work if I buy two sliding doors for a 1.5m (59 inches) wardrobe and end up with one door left over. What I am unsure about is whether the tracks can be shortened without issues and if it is possible, with a double-track system, to have two doors running on the back track and one door (the middle one) running on the front track. In other words, can I slide the middle door both to the right and left, while the right door slides toward the middle and the left door also slides toward the middle? Or is there some kind of built-in stop in the tracks that would prevent this? I tried to talk with one of the furniture assemblers at IKEA today, but that was not possible. They told me that the assemblers have never done this before and that it is not sold like this, so they could not tell me if it would work or not. Hmm, creativity apparently isn’t a priority in hiring at IKEA 🙂. I tried to examine the tracks on the assembled wardrobes and didn’t find anything that would speak against this setup, but I am not a furniture assembler and you can’t see the tracks completely. You would just need to cut them to the right length.
Can anyone help me with this? Is there any reason why this wouldn’t be possible?
Thank you very much for your help.
