ᐅ IKEA Malm drawer hook broken – replacement options?

Hello everyone, I have a small but annoying problem with my IKEA Malm dresser: the catch inside the drawer (the small metal or plastic hook that prevents the drawer from being pulled out completely) is broken. A tiny part of the catch has snapped off, so the drawer no longer stays securely in place and often falls out if you're not careful.

My question is: does anyone know if IKEA offers replacement parts for these drawer catches, or if you have to rely on third-party suppliers? And if there are no original replacement parts, does anyone have tips on how to repair or replace it effectively yourself? I have already checked the IKEA online store, but these specific catches are not listed there.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Does anyone have experience with the best way to install a replacement like this without the drawer sticking or becoming unstable? Are there materials that work particularly well?

Yes, here are a few tips:

- Material: Preferably use stainless steel or hardened spring steel for replacement hooks, as they are durable and corrosion-resistant.

- Attachment: Make sure the angle and position match the original exactly, otherwise the drawer may stick when pulling it in or out.

- Installation: If possible, use small screws or threaded nuts to secure the part firmly.

- Test: After installation, pull the drawer fully out and push it back in several times to ensure everything fits properly and doesn’t stick.

If your drawer tends to fall out too easily, it can help to slightly increase the hook’s holding force or add a second small safety catch.
