Hello!
We have now assembled our Knoxhult kitchen unit (180cm (71 inches)) to a large extent. However, there are surface-mounted heating pipes running behind the kitchen unit that prevent us from pushing the cabinets completely against the wall.
As a result, there is a gap of about 4.2cm (1.65 inches) between the countertop and the tiled backsplash. What options do we have to properly close this gap?
Most kitchen wall trims seem to be only 2-3cm (0.8-1.2 inches) deep, which unfortunately is not enough.

IKEA-Experte12 Oct 2016 15:45How much does a 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) deep countertop cost at a home improvement store?
That was not that expensive back then (already 5 or 6 years ago). Wood strips together cost less than 20 euros, treatment under 10, the strips were each about 20 (2.50 or 3 meters (8.2 or 9.8 feet) long, I don’t remember exactly – 2.30 meters (7.5 feet) were needed). Then there was glue, which was available at the time. It did take some time and skill, but a countertop with cutouts for the sink and cooktop would have been significantly more expensive (and might still have required a wall finishing strip).
How much does a 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) deep countertop cost at a DIY store? This cannot be generalized. DIY stores are usually happy to get rid of leftover pieces, so try negotiating on-site! That definitely works. The price depends on the type of countertop. A solid wood countertop is more expensive than a cheaper panel. So, visit the store, take a look, or ask for details.
