Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to replace my Billy bookcases in the living room with new Hemnes units. I initially chose Billy because it allows you to connect a narrow bookcase at a corner. This solution is not suggested in the Hemnes catalogs. However, there are both narrow and wider bookcases available in the Hemnes range. Has anyone successfully tried this before?
Thank you

I'm bumping this thread because I have the same question, and unfortunately, I didn't get an answer at the Ikea store. I look forward to any tips.

IKEA-Experte29 Jan 2012 19:32This is a fundamental problem because the shelves overhang at the top. If you position the shelves at an angle so that the upper corners touch, there will always be a gap unless you cut the edges with a saw.

nedniederlander29 Jan 2012 20:04Thank you for your suggestion. However, I am not sure I understand you correctly. The idea was to insert a narrow Hemnes shelf at a 45-degree angle between two Hemnes wardrobes placed at a corner. The Billy system has special metal profiles for this purpose. Perhaps someone has installed Hemnes wardrobes in a similar corner arrangement.

IKEA-Experte29 Jan 2012 20:14This cannot work with Hemnes because the top panel extends beyond the frame.
