Hello IKEA fans,

I have assembled many Besta and Pax cabinets and consider myself quite handy. However, at the moment, I’m stuck. I have a Besta TV stand, and I want to place the Framsta base unit on top of it. According to the TV stand’s instructions, I’m supposed to mount two brackets on the back of the TV stand (where the cable management channel usually runs). The Framsta base unit is then supposed to be placed on these brackets. But if I position the base unit at the height of the cable channel, I can no longer screw it to the TV stand because there is no mounting surface underneath the base unit.

Is this correct? Does the base unit only rest on these two brackets without being further fastened to the TV stand, or could there be an error in the instructions?

Hello, screwing is not necessary since the panel is also attached to the wall.

Yes, but if I were to mount the base unit on a different TV stand, according to the instructions I would have to screw the whole thing together as well. Since I also want to hang an LCD on the panel, I’m not sure if the two screws for the wall will be sufficient.

The force from the television primarily acts downward. The tensile load on the wall can be supported by the two screws, provided that the wall structure, anchors, and screw sizes are appropriate.
