We have a timber frame house with thermal insulation. Only the base coat plaster is applied so far, or rather the preparations for the finish coat plaster have been completed. Unfortunately, I did not install any cables for the motion sensors. The motion sensors are to be connected to 230V, and their outputs will be processed via a KNX binary input. So, there will be no high load carried through the cable.

Now my interesting question: Can I simply cut channels in the base coat plaster to lay the cables there? The construction company will still apply the finish coat plaster. However, I would like to fill the channels myself beforehand. What is the best way to do this? Are there standard plaster or filler materials and mesh for this?

Now the question is what kind of rough plaster is applied there. There is basic plaster and masonry mortar, or gypsum plaster. It should be easy to reapply.

There is not just "basic render."
Masonry mortar is not used for rendering.
Gypsum plaster is only suitable for dry interior areas.
It is no longer easy to simply reapply.

With the so-called "rough render," reinforcing mesh should have been embedded. If a long cut is made now, the painting company will, with a very high probability close to a guarantee, not assume any warranty against cracking.
