Hello everyone, I am planning to buy the IKEA Brimnes bed and would like to get a realistic estimate beforehand: How much time should I roughly expect to spend assembling this piece of furniture? I already have basic experience with furniture assembly but am not a professional. I’m interested in factors such as the complexity of the instructions, the number of parts, and whether it’s easier to work with two people. Are there any specific challenges or tools that I should definitely have on hand? Thank you for your input!

I assembled the IKEA Brimnes bed some time ago and can give you a detailed assessment. Depending on experience and organization, putting together the Brimnes bed usually takes between 2 and 4 hours. Here are some points you should keep in mind:
- The instructions are generally clear, but some steps are a bit complex, especially installing the drawers and attaching the headboard parts.
- The number of individual components should not be underestimated; there are several small screws, slats, and some special fittings.
- It is highly recommended to work with two people, as this makes assembling the bed frame and aligning the parts much easier.
- In addition to the included Allen key, you should have a screwdriver and possibly a small hammer ready as tools.
These are exactly the factors that determine the time required. I also advise preparing your workspace well – having enough space and a non-slip surface helps a lot.
If you want to be precise: if you are fairly skilled and well-prepared, you can assemble the bed in about 2 hours. Without experience and working alone, it’s better to plan for 3 to 4 hours.

I actually think assembling the Brimnes is pretty cool! Sure, it takes some time, but if you stay focused and take it step by step, it’s really enjoyable.
I spent about 3 hours on the bed because I wanted to do everything carefully from the start, and the drawers fit perfectly. It’s important to sort the parts correctly and check all the screws before you begin.
Definitely – it’s much easier with two people. One holds the pieces while the other screws them together. Building it this way is a lot more fun and less stressful!
So: Plan around 3 hours, don’t rush yourself, and you’ll end up with a great result!
