Hello everyone,
I recently painted several IKEA Platsa furniture pieces myself, mainly made of MDF panels. I used primer, filler, and water-based acrylic paints. My question is: How long does the paint finish typically last on self-painted IKEA Platsa furniture in everyday use, especially when the furniture is placed in a normal living area and used on a regular basis? I am particularly interested in practical experiences regarding durability, abrasion resistance, and possible aging processes of the painted surface.
Additionally, it would be helpful to know if special preparation steps or certain types of paint can significantly improve the durability. Thanks in advance for your insights and tips!

Aging processes usually show as slight yellowing or dull spots, especially with water-based paints.Thank you for the assessment. Would it make sense to use a different type of paint or protective coating on heavily used edges? Some kind of edge protection with a paint that is more resistant to impact or abrasion?
I would also like to know how often the surface can be refinished if needed, without having to repaint the entire piece of furniture.
