Hello everyone, I am planning to buy a large IKEA Brimnes furniture piece soon, specifically a large bed frame with drawers and possibly the matching wardrobe from the same series. My specific question is: How easy or difficult is it to transport these large and sometimes heavy IKEA Brimnes furniture items? I’m particularly interested in whether the parts can be transported relatively easily alone or with two people, how well they fit in a medium-sized station wagon or light van, and if there are any special tips to make the return transport at home and loading easier. I would be very grateful for any experiences to better estimate how much help I really need to arrange and what challenges I should prepare for.

if there are any special tips to make transporting items home and loading easier.I recommend considering the following points when loading:
- Place the boxes as flat as possible on the floor to keep the center of gravity low
- Load heavy items first
- Secure the load with straps or blankets
- Wearing gloves helps improve grip
This makes transport easier and helps prevent accidents.

The individual parts aren’t really that large, but due to their weight and bulky shape, you definitely need a second person.I agree with that.
Additionally, I would like to add: especially when carrying stairs inside apartments, it’s important to measure the dimensions carefully beforehand. Brimnes parts are flat but large, and tight corners can become an issue.
Disassembling IKEA furniture is usually quite tedious, so think carefully about whether to take everything apart again or transport it as a complete package.
It might also be worth renting a small van if you don’t have a large vehicle.

Regarding handling, it is important to note that the particle boards can be easily damaged if not handled properly. Therefore, when loading, transport the boxes upright as much as possible and with padding.

I plan to buy the furniture new, so it will already be in the boxes. Still something to keep in mind in case I have to deal with this during a move.

One quick follow-up question: Has anyone experienced how handles and drawers behave during transport? I’ve heard they can sometimes loosen or get damaged. Is it worth removing them beforehand?
