Hello everyone,

I am currently considering integrating some furniture pieces from the IKEA Brimnes range into my bedroom and wonder if there are any IKEA Brimnes models that come with built-in lighting.

I am particularly interested in cabinets or beds from this series that are factory-equipped with lighting elements, such as LED strips, spotlights, or other lighting solutions.

I would also like to hear about experiences with such furniture regarding the functionality and quality of the lighting, as well as information about whether the lighting is sold separately or only available as an accessory.

Could someone clarify this or provide more detailed information?

For me, built-in lighting in furniture is really practical, especially for the bedroom, since you don’t have to turn on any extra lights.

That’s true, but IKEA’s focus with Brimnes is more on simple, easy-to-assemble design and low prices, which would likely increase if additional integrated technology were added.

I would also like to see evidence of an official integration, because without documented examples, you can only assume these are individual installations.

I can only agree with blaix.

Some time ago, I bought Brimnes furniture and the quality is good, but I did not find any built-in lighting.

The advantage, however, is that you can easily install your own LED strips, as the surfaces are simple and smooth.

This way, I was able to attach a lighting solution to my headboard using a few clips and a spotlight.

I had the same question, and after checking directly at the IKEA store, I can confirm: Brimnes furniture does not come with built-in lighting.

You can add lighting kits from IKEA, but there are no permanently installed LEDs or similar features.

Thanks to everyone so far for the quick responses.

Regarding external lighting solutions: What has been your experience with their quality, especially when used with Brimnes beds? Are they sturdy, easy to install, and do they serve their purpose well with suitable mounts?

Are there any differences in the types of lighting (warmth, brightness) among the IKEA lighting kits that can be added?

Most IKEA furniture lighting kits come with self-adhesive tape and are easy to install, although durability depends on the surface.

Brimnes furniture usually has painted or melamine-coated surfaces, where the adhesive strips stick well if the surface is clean and free of grease.

Technically, these are typically warm white LED strips with moderate brightness, providing mostly indirect ambient light.

In terms of brightness and color temperature, these lights are suitable for creating a cozy atmosphere but are not intended as main reading lights.

Yes, there are different types of lighting. IKEA often offers LED strips with warm white light, but sometimes there are also neutral white versions available.

In practice, warm white is ideal for the bedroom because it is comfortable and not glaring.

The light intensity works well for indirect lighting, although it does not replace direct reading light.
