Hello everyone, I am planning to buy a large IKEA Brimnes furniture piece soon, specifically a large bed frame with drawers and possibly the matching wardrobe from the same series. My specific question is: How easy or difficult is it to transport these large and sometimes heavy IKEA Brimnes furniture items? I’m particularly interested in whether the parts can be transported relatively easily alone or with two people, how well they fit in a medium-sized station wagon or light van, and if there are any special tips to make the return transport at home and loading easier. I would be very grateful for any experiences to better estimate how much help I really need to arrange and what challenges I should prepare for.

I can relate well, as I was unsure myself when I recently wanted to transport my Brimnes wardrobe. For me personally, it was somewhat stressful at times; doing it alone is definitely difficult – the individual pieces are not really huge, but due to their weight and bulky shape, you definitely need a second person.

Loading into a station wagon was no problem at all; the pieces stack well if you are familiar with the assembly instructions beforehand. What I learned: lifting at the front and pushing at the back helps, and keeping the packaging (cardboard, protective wrap) on until unloading also makes handling easier.

In general: bring someone who can help carry, otherwise it can quickly become frustrating.

Brimnes furniture is easy to disassemble. Loading and transporting it usually works well with two people. The parts generally fit easily into a station wagon (estate car).

Regarding the transportability of the large IKEA Brimnes furniture pieces, I can clarify the following:

- The components are conventionally flat-packed, usually in relatively large boxes.
- The weight typically ranges between 20 and 40 kg (44 and 88 lbs) per package, depending on the item.
- Bed frames with storage can be heavy and difficult to carry alone without assistance.
- A mid-sized estate car / station wagon (e.g., VW Passat Variant) provides enough loading space, especially with the rear seats folded down.
- For returning the furniture, it is advisable to use a sturdy loading strap or at least a protective blanket to prevent paint damage.

Since the furniture is especially flat-packed, the overall package size is not critical for transport, but you need to be strong or work with two people to handle the weight safely.

Brimnes components are easy to transport with two people. Not too heavy, though they can be a bit bulky. No issues with a small van.

I had the Brimnes bed last year. Transporting it alone is very difficult. With two people and a station wagon, it works well. The parts stack neatly.
