Let’s be honest – IKEA Hemnes may look nice, but anyone who expects precisely installed doors on a mass-market piece of furniture probably also believes in Santa Claus.
This is quite common and is actually a strong indication that you always have to make adjustments yourself with basic IKEA sets. The issue often isn’t just the hinges but also the wood, which warps due to moisture. This phenomenon is often jokingly called ‘HMM’ – Hemnes Furniture Mechanical Malfunction.
If you want a truly durable solution, you replace the hinges with higher-quality ones and make sure the carcasses are installed completely free of warping. But then it’s no longer IKEA.
In my opinion, everything beyond that is mostly cosmetic work. And yes, I like to provoke a bit ?.
