Good morning everyone, I would like to start a discussion on how to best optimize storage use in IKEA Metod tall cabinets. My focus is on efficient solutions to maximize the available space, especially in large kitchen cabinets with adjustable interiors. I am interested in strategies for using shelves, organizers, or other accessories to arrange the space so that both small kitchen utensils and larger items can be stored neatly and accessibly. Does anyone have detailed experience or suggestions on how to get the most out of the Metod tall cabinets, perhaps including specific IKEA or third-party accessories that provide real added value?

That would help to focus more precisely on accessories and systems, as the tall cabinets offer different options depending on their width, depth, and height.
Thank you for the many responses – I will prioritize the information: My tall cabinets are 60cm (24 inches) wide, 40cm (16 inches) deep, and about 220cm (87 inches) high. I am mainly looking for solutions for the lower sections, as a lot of space is often wasted there. Experiences with drawers and additional shelving that help organize storage individually would be especially helpful. Tips on the height of shelves for optimal space use are also welcome.
Great dimensions you have there! Make sure to use pull-out drawers with high load capacity in the lower areas. This way, you’ll find everything much faster and can make better use of the available depth. Also, plastic boxes are excellent for keeping smaller parts organized. I’ve personally managed to keep even large dimensions practical and tidy this way. Good luck!
One last note from me: also consider how often you really need certain items. It is often worthwhile to store rarely used appliances or supplies in less accessible areas, such as at the top or back. This keeps the frequently used space free for everyday needs. It gives you more breathing room in the closet!
Exactly, nanidra. Prioritizing the frequency of use is essential when organizing Metod tall cabinets, especially when dividing the storage space. As mentioned before, less frequently used items can be stored in higher shelves or upper cabinet areas, while everyday items should be planned for middle to lower levels with easily accessible pull-out drawers.
A practical tip to conclude: If possible, shelves should not be fixed rigidly to standard dimensions but rather allow slight adjustments in the compartment height. This is the only way to tailor the storage space precisely to the material being stored – increasing flexibility and maximizing room efficiency.
