Hello everyone, I am currently planning my kitchen layout using the Ikea Metod system and want to make the most efficient use of storage capacity. My specific question is: how can I optimize an Ikea Metod kitchen to maximize storage space without sacrificing functionality and ease of use? I have several layout ideas in mind but am unsure whether to focus more on extra drawers or perhaps use more tall cabinets. I am also interested in how to best combine interior fittings such as shelves, pull-out trays, or special organizers to get the most out of the space. Your experiences and tips would be greatly appreciated!

For sustainable storage solutions, clearly zoning the kitchen units is crucial. Designate separate areas for cookware, pantry items, small utensils, and cleaning supplies, placing them within ergonomic reach. Using pull-out drawers with adjustable dividers and modular box systems increases flexibility and maximizes space efficiency. Avoid too many overhead cabinets with deep, hard-to-see shelves that tend to 'hide' storage space. Tall cabinets with internal shelving are ideal in this case. Custom solutions from third-party providers can often be easily combined with Ikea Metod and offer additional convenience.
Have you already thought specifically about using corner solutions like the "Magic Corner"?
These corner solutions work really well to create storage space that is otherwise difficult to use. However, it is important that the cabinets and sliding systems are installed precisely; otherwise, they tend to jam easily.

In my own Metod kitchen, I opted for corner cabinets with rotating shelves and can really recommend them. It requires some patience during planning and installation, but the extra storage space is worth it.

It might also be a good idea to consider using shallow drawers for baking sheets and trays, which otherwise take up a lot of space.

I completely agree. Corner solutions are often underestimated because they seem complicated, but they significantly improve space utilization. Additionally, if possible, it is advisable to use add-on elements such as tall cabinets with internal pull-outs.

Furthermore, I would like to add that for the Ikea Metod system, the accessories from the Maximera series for drawer inserts are often very useful for organizing large drawers. This way, you can store a lot while still finding things quickly.
