Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Ikea Brimnes drawer chest: some of the drawers squeak loudly and unpleasantly when they are pulled out or pushed back in. It gets quite annoying over time, and I would like to repair it myself or at least significantly improve the situation.
I understand that the issue often comes from the drawer slides or rollers, maybe also due to dryness or dirt. However, I would like to know exactly how to best address this with the Brimnes model, which steps make sense, and which tools or products I should use for maintenance or repair.
Has anyone had experience with squeaky Brimnes drawers and can offer tips on how to fix this permanently?
Thanks in advance!

Regarding TEBILO’s question: The cabinet is about 4 years old and has been well maintained. The rollers still look visually fine, but I haven’t yet checked if they roll completely smoothly.
I will start by cleaning and using silicone or graphite spray, then check if the squeaking goes away. If not, I will take a closer look at the rollers.
If anyone has advice on what to pay special attention to when reinserting the drawer, I would appreciate your tips!

If anyone has any tips on what to pay special attention to when reinserting the drawerIt is important not to insert the drawer at an angle. Position it so that the drawer slides are perfectly aligned with those inside the cabinet. Often, there are visible markings on the sides. Gently pressing the sides inward can help the locking mechanisms snap in smoothly without forcing.
After inserting, check by gently sliding the drawer back and forth to ensure it moves freely without any stress on the side panels.
I agree with ladali: Sometimes it helps to fully remove the drawer first, gently stretch or pull the runner on the furniture slightly outward with your finger, and then reinsert the drawer. This relieves pressure on the guide and makes it easier for the drawer to click into place.
Also: Always stay patient, this is not a race but a delicate precision task. Good luck!
