Hello everyone, I have a somewhat special request regarding the cleaning of my IKEA Besta cabinet. Over time, heavy dirt has built up, including greasy stains, partly dried food residues, and dust in the corners. My question is: What cleaning methods and products do you recommend to clean an IKEA Besta gently but effectively, especially with stubborn dirt? It’s important to me to have tips that do not damage the paint or material, as well as advice on home remedies or specific cleaners. I’m looking forward to your experiences and recommendations!
Basically, when cleaning IKEA Besta: Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners to protect the surface. For heavy dirt, I recommend the following procedure:
- First, remove coarse dirt with a dry cloth or vacuum cleaner
- Then wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a few drops of mild dish soap
- For dried-on or greasy stains, gently soak them for about 5–10 minutes with a cloth moistened in warm soapy water
- Afterwards, carefully assist with a soft brush
- Vinegar in the water can help, but please test first in an inconspicuous spot
- Finally, wipe again with a clean, damp cloth and then dry
For severe discoloration, isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) is often effective but should also be used sparingly and with caution.
If anyone has had good experiences with special furniture cleaners for similar issues, I would be interested in recommendations.
