Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the challenge of properly securing the shelves in my new IKEA Pax corner wardrobe. Since corner wardrobes are constructed somewhat differently than regular Pax wardrobes, I am unsure which fastening method is best here.
Specifically, I want to know the best way to firmly fix the shelves to the side panels so that they neither wobble nor sag over time, especially since the shelves under the corner section experience additional stress due to the unique shape.
Is it sufficient to use the included metal shelf supports? Or are additional rails or special brackets recommended?
I would appreciate practical experiences, detailed tips, or advice regarding the load-bearing capacity of the shelves in the corner area.
Thanks in advance!

I would simply use the IKEA shelf supports and make sure they are inserted properly. That might be enough for many cases, but honestly, I think that advice is a bit too casual, especially for a corner cabinet. Sure, IKEA makes solid furniture, but the corner solution isn’t exactly well thought out.
I wonder why reinforced systems aren’t used consistently, or at least why IKEA doesn’t offer an official solution. Instead, these small, delicate shelf supports are often used, which could quickly reach their limits under heavier loads or unfavorable use.
Also: How often do you see people just hanging their shelves in place and then wonder why the unit wobbles or becomes uneven after a few months?
My point is: anyone who values lasting stability should move beyond the standard shelf supports and get creative — for example, by using screws, additional rails, or brackets, as has already been mentioned here several times.
I believe this also implies a certain responsibility on the buyer’s part not to rely blindly on the inexpensive solution but to invest a bit more effort into a truly sturdy construction.
