Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to install some IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets with soft-close doors and want to make sure everything is assembled correctly and professionally. My specific question is: How do I properly assemble IKEA Metod cabinets with soft-close doors so that the doors close smoothly, the hinges do not stick, and the entire structure is stable? I am especially interested in the steps related to the soft-close hinges, the correct positioning and adjustment of the doors, as well as any potential issues to watch out for.
I do have some experience with furniture assembly, but I am not completely confident with the combination of soft-close and Metod cabinets to ensure I cover all the details properly.
Thank you in advance for your tips, and if you know any special tricks that could make the process easier, please share!

When it comes to glass fronts, the installation is basically the same, just be more careful when tightening, as glass is more fragile. Exactly, tightening the screws on glass fronts should be done gently to avoid creating stress points that could lead to cracks.
Additionally, I recommend assembling the doors individually before final installation and adjusting the hinges. This way, fitting inaccuracies with glass fronts can be better corrected.
How you position the doors also ensures the soft-close function works optimally. If the gap between the door and frame is too large, the door won’t close softly. If it’s too tight, the door can stick and put excessive strain on the hinges.
Therefore, during installation, regularly check the gap dimensions with a small measuring tool or simply a ruler.
Have you already chosen a specific model or material for your doors?

The way you position the doors also ensures that the soft-close function works optimally. I have standard wooden fronts, not the glass version. The doors are 60cm (24 inches) wide and 80cm (31.5 inches) high. The soft-close hinges are the ones integrated into the Metod system, so not third-party.
I got a spirit level and a small screwdriver and want to adjust the hinges as evenly as possible without having to repeatedly remove and reattach all the doors. Is there a recommended sequence for the adjustment, for example side adjustment first, then height, or the other way around?
Great that you’re already so well prepared! 🙂
One more tip: After installing all the doors, do a rough check before the final fine adjustment. This way, you can quickly see where they really stick or close unevenly. The soft-close feature is a true luxury when properly adjusted, but it can be frustrating if a screw is tightened too much.
Be patient with the adjustments, and you’ll enjoy it for a long time!

I will follow your method and pay close attention to the screws on the hinge. If I still encounter problems after the initial assembly, I will reach out here again. Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips and explanations!
