Hello everyone, I’m currently assembling an Ikea Pax wardrobe and encountering the problem that I can’t get the doors properly aligned despite multiple adjustments. Specifically, I mean adjusting them vertically and horizontally so that the doors don’t warp, close evenly everywhere, and are all at the same height.

How can Ikea Pax doors be easily aligned without spending hours experimenting? Is there perhaps an effective step-by-step guide or special tips that help achieve consistent gaps between the doors at all points? I’m especially struggling with adjusting the hinges and pivot points.

I would really appreciate concrete advice or experiences that can help achieve a faster and cleaner perfect result.

I want to add that not only adjusting the hinges is crucial, but also ensuring that the Pax frame itself is perfectly level.

Thanks for the advice! In my case, it was actually a bit crooked because the floor is uneven. I’ve now checked with a spirit level and will adjust the leveling feet accordingly.

My experience: first adjust the vertical alignment using the screws on the top and bottom hinges, then fine-tune the horizontal and depth adjustments.

Interesting approach, I will try that. I’m still wondering whether it makes more sense to fully attach the doors first and then adjust all the screws, or to fix one hinge at a time, adjust it, and only then attach the second hinge.

Hello Viktorron, I have a method that helps me a lot when aligning Ikea Pax doors:

- First, hang the doors loosely, securing them just enough so they hold.
- Use a spirit level to level the doors, making sure the gaps between adjacent doors and the cabinet are as even as possible.
- Then adjust the vertical screws step by step, followed by the horizontal screws, and finally set the depth correctly.

It’s important to make small adjustments each time and open and close the doors several times after each change. In practice, this helps you quickly notice if the adjustment works or if something is sticking.

If a door panel doesn’t close properly or is misaligned, it’s better to loosen it slightly and realign rather than tightening the screws all the way.

I fully agree with all the tips and would like to share a little trick that always helps me:

Before getting frustrated with the doors, try placing a batten or a board as a straight edge against the door edge. This way, you can quickly see the gap dimensions at a glance much more clearly.

Sometimes you adjust the screws seemingly a hundred times, but it still doesn’t look right visually – using the batten gives you a quick visual reference at all points. This makes the adjustment process more relaxed and reduces frustrating moments.
