Hello everyone, I have stacked several large IKEA Billy bookcases on top of each other and have noticed that the stability is not ideal, especially at this height. The shelves are not completely secure and tend to wobble slightly, particularly when loaded. My question is: What options are there to stabilize large Billy bookcase setups more effectively and permanently? I am especially interested in whether there are specific fasteners, reinforcements, or assembly methods that can be implemented without major modifications or professional tools. I would also appreciate experiences with additional brackets, backing panels, or spacers, as well as tips for optimal wall mounting. Thank you in advance!

Multiple wall anchors: Use at least two mounting points per shelf\

This is essential because the original IKEA fixing often only provides one point. Additionally, I recommend making sure that the screws are driven in with a suitable hex key to avoid damage.

Use metal brackets or wooden strips to connect the shelves together\

I agree with this, as the connection between individual shelves is often underestimated but is especially important for large structures.

I have installed small, sturdy metal braces on the back of my large Billy shelves. They connect the top and bottom shelves and prevent any wobbling. It's simple to do and very effective.

A proven method is to loosely screw the shelves together and then secure them to the wall using angle brackets. Make sure to use the appropriate tools and suitable wall anchors. A reinforced back panel or cross beams can provide additional support.
